We Remove Swirl Marks and Oxidation
Swirl marks are circular scratches in the clear coat that scatter light and give paint a dull, grey appearance under direct sun. Oxidation is the result of UV breaking down that clear layer over time. Both are surface-level issues that correction compound and polish can address, as long as the vehicle has enough clear coat thickness to work with.
Multi-Stage Correction for Show Level Results
Single-stage polishing removes some defects but leaves behind haze from the compound itself. Multi-stage correction uses a compound pass to remove the defect, followed by polish passes to refine the surface and eliminate any swirls introduced during the cutting stage. The result is paint depth that single-stage work cannot produce.
Required Before Any Coating or PPF Install
Ceramic coating and PPF both lock in the surface condition of the paint underneath. A coating applied over swirl marks will magnify them under certain lighting. PPF applied over contaminated or scratched areas will make those imperfections permanent. For any vehicle receiving a coating or film at Detail Boutique, correction is completed first.
Paint Thickness Measured Before Every Pass
Clear coat is finite. Safe correction requires knowing how much material exists before any compound or polish touches the surface. We measure paint thickness at multiple points across each panel using a calibrated gauge. If the reading indicates the clear coat cannot support the correction passes required, we tell the client clearly and recommend alternatives.
Every vehicle at Detail Boutique is measured before correction begins. We do not polish paint; we cannot safely polish.

Our Paint Correction Process
Paint correction is methodical, not fast. Each stage has a specific purpose and is reviewed before moving forward. The process below applies to every vehicle that comes through for correction work.

Paint Thickness Check and Assessment
The vehicle goes under focused lighting for an initial assessment. Swirl marks, oxidation zones, scratches, water spots, and etching are cataloged by panel. Paint thickness is measured across each area. A correction plan is confirmed with the client before any product is applied.

Compound and Polish Stages Applied
Compound passes are completed panel by panel with machine polishers matched to the level of defect. Each panel is checked after the compound stage before moving to the polish step. Polish is applied to refine the surface and build gloss. Product residue is cleared, and the panel is checked under light before moving on.

Final Refinement and Gloss Review
After all panels are completed, the vehicle goes through a full-light final review. Panel edges, recesses, and horizontal surfaces that catch direct light are inspected individually. Any area that does not meet the standard goes back through the appropriate stage. The vehicle is not released until the review is clear.
